Way to Go W.A.D.! Labor Commissioner Candidate Comments On Tyson Plant Closing

Oklahoma Labor Commissioner candidate Jason Reese expressed his concern for the families of those facing layoffs after Tyson’s decision to close its plant in Ponca City. Word came last week that Tyson is closing its doors in northern Oklahoma and moving jobs to New York, Iowa and Texas.

“This shows, emphatically, the need for a job-friendly environment in our state,” Reese said. “In these hard times, we are reminded of the need for wise public policy. If we do not keep our house in order by reforming our broken workers’ comp system and modernizing our regulations, then we will face future job losses.”

Commenting on the need for a new attitude in state government, Reese continued, “Don’t settle for anything less than the best, I say.”

Reese cited a recent report in which a group of business leaders unveiled its fourth annual ‘Best & Worst States’ ranking evaluating states based on Taxation/Regulation, Workforce Quality and Living Environment. This year, Oklahoma ranks 22nd. “With two of our neighboring states in the top ten,” Reese said, “the middle of the pack is not good enough. We cannot rest until Oklahoma is number one.”

Mr. Reese forgot to mention another reason Tyson is probably leaving Oklahoma. We’re sure W.A.D. Edmondson’s harassment of the poultry industry over their alleged pollution of the Illinois River had much to do with this move.

W.A.D. Edmondson Blows Wad; Dismisses Charges Against OK-3

From Examiner.com:

Looks like the rule of law and justice (delayed) still does mean something in Oklahoma. W.A.D. Edmondson’s silly prosecution of three citizens for petitioning their government came to a merciful end yesterday. Upon hearing of the news, an observer and reader of OKPNS sent us this comment:

“We have drugs to regrow hair, surgeries to transform men into women – and vice versa – and we can send a man to the moon, when are we going to find a cure for “Napoleon-itis” or “chronic short man’s syndrome?” Edmondson is a petty, sawed off tyrant who should be run out of Oklahoma on rails for disrupting over a year of these people’s lives and wasting the taxpayer’s money!”

Ouch! Here’s a statement from “Oklahoma 3″ member Paul Jacob” Read more…

W.A.D., when will the madness end!!!!

AP:

“Private law firms representing Oklahoma in a lawsuit against poultry companies have spent about $25 million but that amount will increase unless the case is settled, Attorney General Drew Edmondson said.”

Oklahoma “People’s Media” Censor Paul Jacob

More proof of the incestuous relationship between W. A. D. and the media?

“Recently I sent out a news release with a statement declaring our innocence and attacking this politically-motivated prosecution. Next thing I know, the Citizens in Charge website gets shut down. An email from the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority complained to our hosting service that the news release was spam.”

Talk about censorship! It’s frightening that in America, if a media organization (one supported by tax dollars no less!) disagrees with your cause, besides ignoring you, they report your press releases to your hosting provider as spam. Welcome to the People’s Republic of Oklahoma!

NY Times: Web Sites That Dig for News Rise as Watchdogs

From Examiner.com:

While W.A.D. Edmondson blatantly abuses his power persecuting citizen activists and poultry farmers (with a willing media turning a blind eye) – the people of Oklahoma City don’t have to be reminded that there is only one daily newspaper, and it is quickly sliding into increasing irrelevance.

A story in today’s New York Times reminds us why the new media matters and the old media is dying. Read more…

BREAKING: Citizen Leader Faces Felony Charges for Petitioning Oklahoma Government‏

National Initiative and Referendum Expert’s Statement Before Trial for Violating Petition Laws

(Oklahoma City, OK)…Paul Jacob, President of Citizens in Charge released the following statement before his preliminary hearing on felony charges of violating the state’s statute requiring petition circulators to be residents of Oklahoma:

“Today, Attorney General Drew Edmondson continues his attack on the right to petition one’s government. We are innocent. We sought to understand and to fully comply with the letter of the law. Indeed, those running the petition drive were advised by state officials and followed that advice.

Furthermore, the very statute being used to prosecute us is being challenged as unconstitutional. In recent months, statutes similar to Oklahoma’s have been struck down as unconstitutional by two federal circuit courts – the Sixth and Ninth Circuits – in unanimous decisions.

Make no mistake: We are here today facing 10 years in prison because we worked for an issue adamantly opposed by the rich and powerful in Oklahoma. The goal of this prosecution is to threaten us and scare Oklahomans away from the initiative process, which gives citizens their best opportunity for real reform.

But we will not be bullied out of our rights as Americans. We will fight this vicious, politically-motivated assault, and we will prevail.”

Citizens in Charge works with activists, legislators, media, opinion leaders and voters to protect the initiative & referendum process where it exists in 24 states and to expand the process to the 26 states where voters currently lack the initiative.

Note to Poultry Industry: Utilize the Ability to Fire Bad Consultants!

“Who wouda thunk it!”

Except for the basketball guy, only the PR whizzes at Schnake-Turnbo Frank could have engineered a more half-baked publicity scheme than to announce a major legal counter-offensive by the poultry industry against WAD Edmondson on a Friday before the national election.  Even the tone-deaf Chesapeake PR bumblers know that the media is usually either drunk or absent on a Friday afternoon.
